Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD
Clinical Director
Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD, is an accomplished dentist whose professional background includes general care, urgent treatment, and clinical leadership. He formed Emergency Dentist in late 2022 to address the limited availability of dental services outside traditional office hours. As Clinical Director, he provides oversight for seventeen weekend clinics operating in five states.
Dr. Nielsen completed his dental education at the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2018. He practiced in Oregon before relocating to Iowa and becoming the owner of Dentistry 801 Grand in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Taylor Nielsen, dentist and business owner, developed the first weekend clinic within that practice. He then played a key role in extending the network throughout Iowa, Georgia, California, Arizona, and Arkansas.
His responsibilities as Clinical Director include creating and refining protocols for dental pain, oral infections, extractions, and treatment delivered on the day of evaluation. Dr. Nielsen has trained and advised more than 100 dentists. He also developed an eight-credit continuing education course in urgent dental practice that is hosted by OHSU.
Dr. Nielsen maintains an active license to practice dentistry in Iowa and is a member of the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. Although Taylor Nielsen DDS is occasionally listed online, his earned professional designation is DMD. He also reviews patient education resources for this website to help ensure they are clinically sound, easy to follow, and relevant to patients.
Clinical Oversight & Licensing
Dr. Nielsen is licensed to practice dentistry in Iowa. He does not practice dentistry or treat patients in New York, and he is not a provider at Tribeca Upper East.
All care at this location is provided by dentists licensed in New York, and every treatment decision is made by the treating dentist.
